‘You are in no man’s land. Which never moves which never changes which never grows older but which remains forever icy and silent' From the pen of one of our greatest living playwrights comes Nobel Prize laureate Harold Pinter's superb tragicomic gem about two aging writers Hirst and Spooner. After meeting on Hampstead Heath they return home for a late-night session of witty banter sinister power games and the worship of alcohol watched over by Hirst’s henchmen Briggs and Foster. Starring Michael Gambon David Bradley David Walliams in his West End debut and Nick Dunning this unique and haunting play directed by Rupert Goold is part mystery drama part homage to the ghosts of the past and the fiction of memory.

'Brilliantly inventive’ - Daily Telegraph ‘Madly ingenious…Breathtaking’ - Independent ‘Exhilarating…stunning’ - Times ‘This latest piece confirms Goold as the most exciting director of his generation’ - Daily Telegraph ‘Brilliant… frequently funny always arresting’ - Mail on Sunday No one has left a performance of this groundbreaking production without an indelible memory of what they have just witnessed. A radical re-imagining of Pirandello’s classic Six Characters in Search of an Author transfers to the West End immediately following its sell-out premiere season at the Chichester Festival Theatre. Six strangers appear unannounced during the editing of a docu-drama declaring themselves fictional characters in search of an author. As their compelling narrative unfolds the documentary maker begins to film their story and reality and fiction become increasingly blurred. This stunning play is a parable for a media obsessed age and an exhilarating exploration of how we define ourselves in the 21st Century. Following his multi award-winning production of Macbeth starring Patrick Stewart (Chichester West End and Broadway) Rupert Goold directs a cast lead by Ian McDiarmid (winner of both Olivier and Tony Awards and former Artistic Director of the Almeida Theatre) and including Jamie Bower Eleanor David Noma Dumezweni Dyfan Dwyfor Christine Entwisle Denise Gough Jake Harders Jeremy Joyce John Mackay Freya Parker and Robin Pearce.
